My entry for Dominance War IV.
Just 9 days completion date~
Okay. I did learnt a lot through this competition and made a lot of mistake, I'll review my own process and hopefully i don't make the same mistake again but it's always hard for me to change my old habits.
The time is running out that day. I left half a day to compile and layout my model.
I am thinking whether i should have planned the layout and the setting during the concept period. Maybe could try out some day. So i don't have to struggle during the last minute. Panic time brain dont function well.
This is the first time I render my model using the maya shader.. Spent alot of time testing. Just a little bit disappointed. There still areas I can improve on.


Texturing period, I should'nt have much problem in this area. BUT, I always disorganise my layer, I always have hard time searching my layer. It waste time and cost to build up to 70-90 layers. This is very bad habits, I MUST CHANGE~. Recommend to prepare different parts into layer sets, before u ever want to start. Proper renaming ur layer also will help. But sometime I just want to get things done and ignore about organising.

After concept, then go into zbrush. Scuplt whatever is in the concept. This period I'm always unsure. Try to figure out the relation between each parts. Shouldnt be it, make be sure it is done during the concept time period.

Mistake: Concept section, at this time i did not consider about texture, what kind of material and etc. Insufficient supporting reference.
I think it is better to design first, then find supporting reference. Well, more it will help to generate more ideas also. And the design will have more originality. But of course, in designing, u should consider the character's qualities , time period, etc..
Sum up. Concept and research is the most important stage. It can save ur life~
